Asia Ensemble

The aim to create more harmony and mutual understanding among Asian countries brought together a group of leading soloists of traditional music. The “Asia Ensemble” was founded in the year 2000 in Tokyo by Artistic Director Minoru Miki and Music Director Yang Jing.

The Asia Ensemble consists of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Mongolian leading traditional instrumental soloists. From 2000 until 2005 the Asia Ensemble toured annually “Asia Silk Road Music Festival” in co-operation with different Japanese cities. In August 2005 they become the featured ensemble at the Hokuto International Music Festival. http://www.hokutofestival.com/

The ensemble performs classical and modem solo pieces for their respective instruments (pipa, shakuhachi, koto, matouqin, dasanxian, gamelan) as well as ensemble music. The ensemble is open to co-operate with different culture background ensembles and instruments.
